Genetic or DNA Vaccines

At the time being genetic vaccines become the project of immunization building experiment. This method born after the development of some DNA vaccine that have good result on preventing people from genetic diseases like herpes disease.

Brisbane based Coridon has reached another milestone in the development of its pioneering DNA vaccine against herpes simplex virus 2 (HSV-2) with result from a preclinical efficacy study showing 100% effective in protecting animals against the virus. Condon now plans to progress the DNA virus programme into human clinical studies with funding its major investor, Allied Healthcare Group.

The result of this study seem very positive, the DNA vaccine works differently to conventional vaccines. DNA from the virus is injected into individual, and the body generates an immune response against the virus proteins encoded by that DNA. Then enables the body to mount an effective immune defence against the full virus should it ever appear.

DNA vaccines have the tremendous benefit of not only offering prophylactic protection, but also potentially curing individuals currently infected by the virus.
